Professional Statement:
Michele Grinberg focuses on providing legal counsel to a variety of health care clients and nonprofit corporations. She provides counsel to physicians and physician groups, hospitals, clinics and professional trade and other non-profit associations.
Ms. Grinberg represents members of the health care community involved in advancing health care policy. She drafts legislation and state rules, tracks new case law germane to the health communities' interests and has appeared before legislative committees as well as before various health-related interest groups. Ms. Grinberg advises clients on contracting issues and state and federal compliance matters including HIPAA, fraud and abuse, and Stark law and regulation. Ms. Grinberg regularly assists clients with employment-related matters and with non-profit governance. She also advises in the emerging areas of privacy and security. Ms. Grinberg was recently part of a state-wide task force, pursuant to a grant from AHRQ (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality) and RTI to the West Virginia Medical Institute, which prepared a report of statewide barriers to the interoperability of electronic medical records.
Ms. Grinberg has completed the West Virginia State Bars' training for mediators and has twenty years experience in litigation. She resides part-time in Pocahontas County and is particularly interested in assisting with mediation in that part of the State. Ms. Grinberg also teaches Appellate Advocacy at the West Virginia University College of Law as an adjunct lecturer.
